Building with a writer in the room

This week has rounded out with a ton of high-value UX focused work. As the development of Waggle continues, we have maintained focus on usability, because adding tons of features doesn't do much when the experience to use them is fraught with terrible interface. Before getting into the details, I want to explain where this week's work originated from, as the original plan was to continue the development of the calendar system, family trees, and history tabs.

A new worldbuilder signed up for Waggle and has amazing ideas for features to implement into the app. I had a near-seven-hour long call with them at the start of the week. They demonstrated how the UI could be optimized through screen sharing and collaboration. I got a live-look into where a power-user would expect features to be placed on the screen. They also explained how important accessibility options for users with colorblindness and epilepsy would be so we can make Waggle more accommodating for our users. Throughout the call, we established this strong list of high-value changes and additions to the app. A lot of the changes have already been made, and there are more to come from this conversation.

While there are many features from that call that are still in progress like TTRPG character sheets and expansion to the calendar system, most immediate value work has been finished in this update.

Importantly, this conversation showed how valuable community truly is as we develop Waggle, which is why we also set up our discord server that you can join today. The future of Waggle will always be community oriented, and fully built for our members. This project was never meant to be selfish nor corporate-feeling, and we plan to keep it that way.
